Love the camera. Hate the big, heavy charging cord.

PROS: Small, sleek and light-weight. On a first-time snorkling shoot, it took fairly clear photos. I'm a recent digital convert, and find this easy to use above and below water.

CONS: I miss a viewfinder to use in bright sunlight. The cord for the charger is bulkier than the camera, and is a pain to travel with. I ordered a plug-in charger which doesn't work. So I'll have to lug this to my next Montana fishing trip.

PROS: Takes great underwater pictures and videos. Easy to view motif underwater.

CONS: Takes better underwater pictures than normal "overwater" pictures.

Pentax doesn't stand behind warranty!

PROS: Good pictures and easy to use. Lots of automatic settings for all occassions.

CONS: Used it in the Gulf of Mexico and display stopped working. Sent it to Pentax for repair and was told there was sand in the seal and it could not be repaired and they would not replace. Basically saying it was our fault. Well if the seal doesn't hold then it seems to me it is the manufacturers fault. I would not spend the money if you want a waterproof camera!

PROS: Takes excellant pictures. I like not having to worry if it rains. It can store hundreds of photos, depending on the memmory card size. There are plenty of options to pleasemost anyone. The movie and soundmode is really good.

CONS: No view finder to use when it's too bright to see the LCD display. The lithium battery is hard to find on store shelves, so keep a charged up spare handy.

pentax does not stand behind warranty

PROS: Takes decent pictures in wet conditions.

CONS: It only does so while it lasts, which isn't very long. I bought a waterproof pentax camera almost a year ago. After half a year it stopped working and pentax fixed it. I didn't use it much over the winter, and the next time I used it in water, it did not work afterwards. It was used in a swimming pool and did not come close to exceeding the 5 foot depth limit, it did not suffer any impacts, and the seal was locked the entire time and for quite a while afterwards. When I sent it in for repair they would not honor the warranty, claiming water damage. My best guess is that they figure this is the second repair and they are losing money on a defective unit, so they decided to just blow me off. Buy this camera at your own risk, the company does not stand by its product.
