  Excellent DSLR camera, especially with optional 16-45 lens.

PROS: A camera that is almost intuitively easy to use. Combined with the optional 16-45 Pentax lens it takes brilliant images.

CONS: Built-in flash is very only marginally useful. Seems to shoot one stop underexposed, but exposure compensation adjusts for that. Flash sync speed is a bit slow considering the competition.

PROS: solid good feel in hand, easy to learn features and tweaks on camera, Many more features than Nikon or Canon of similar cost and class-- plus Pentax makes some of--if not the best glass in the world today, this camera takes beautiful photos

CONS: This is not an entry level camera, This should be your 3rd camera after 1st beginning with a simple point and shoot, then 2nd something like a Canon powershot S3, then move up to SLR.

PROS: excellent ergonomics. unique RAW button.high quality images. tons of features. great value.

CONS: No hard button for adjusting white balance. Anyway you can still use Function Menu to do that.noise at iso 1600.

CONS: Shutter a bit touchy (difficult to hold for focus), not a lightweight camera

PROS: Excellent picture quality in RAW format, shake reduction system and sealed weather/dust resistant body

CONS: Horizontal tilt problem. Auto white balance and jpeg engine are not so good, autofocus speed is slower than Canon and Nikon.

  Definitely a camera for a serious amateur or better photographer.

PROS: The K10D takes some time to customize to a user's preferences, but controls then become intuitive and are perfectly located for quick changes. Custom-adjusting the image parameters to shoot with more saturation and sharpness will correct for Pentax's inherent softer image, and give real punch to images. The SR really worked well and I could consistently shoot tack sharp images with telephoto lenses at surprisingly low shutter speeds — best of all it worked with some really old manual focus K-mount lenses from my old K2 that date back from 30 years ago, and a bonus was the in-focus beep sound when I had focussed properly. The 16 to 45 zoom that I got as my standard lens is fabulous and well worth the extra few dollars. This is really a well-designed photographer's camera with manual external controls for every almost shooting function - no searching through endless menus.

CONS: The K10D is one heavy brute. I could ask for more a faster burst rate than three frames per second, and only 10 RAW images per burst.

  Best value in a performance DSLR

PROS: Awesome feature set. Weather-sealed, shake reduction, full 3 fps for the entire memory card in JPEG, 22-bit A/D, native DNG support, and the list goes on and on. 24 million compatible Pentax lenses to choose from. Innovative user interface features -- designed for photographers.

CONS: More lens choices in longer glass -- being rectified with new DA* lenses announced for later this year. Does not support the aperature ring sensor like the old film cameras (means we need to use stop-down metering with old M lenses).

  This is a Great camera! Best value in the prosumer 10.2 MB class!

PROS: Great image quality and feature set. Performs very well in inclement weather (I had some extreme cold, wind and blowing snow conditions in Minnesota recently).

CONS: Battery life is good but not great. The optional battery/grip that I also got does help.
