PROS: When you get it right, it works but getting there is tough! Nice battery lifetime between charges
CONS: Too difficult for me
PROS: 10X zoom with IS. Clear LCD screen.
CONS: Doesn't use AA batteries. Batteries are hard to find and expensive. No manual control. Lens cap is a pain. Internal memory is useless. Camera should come with an SD card included! Many are having trouble with flash. Good idea but Panasonic did not think this through compeletly before putting on market. They should make good and allow owners to trade up to expected TZ2 with nominal cost.
OVERALL SCORE:5/10
PROS: Features and 10x zoom
CONS: This camera was touted to be great, and for the first 40 or so pictures, it worked wonderfully, producing nice pictures --- until it stopped working after the first day of of a once-in-a lifetime safari trip to Africa. The camera kept displaying a message to "Please turn camera off and then on again". There was no way to clear the error, nothing about it in the manuals and so the camera was dead on day 2 of a 14 day safari. I was lucky enough to find cheap disposable cameras at one campground (I took the last 3 they had at a cost of $28 US each) and I had to spend about $30 for developing the 72 low quality prints that I did take with the disposables. Panasonic is refusing to reimburse me $110 for my out-of-pocket costs as a result of their defective camera that totally ruined my vacation. They even had the guts to ask me to pay for shipping the camera back to them for repairs! I'd be careful with this camera... I have not decided whether I want it fixed, and risk runing another vacation or whether I should return it and purchase a different manufacturer's product.
OVERALL SCORE:5/10
PROS: Price,10x optical zoom, picture quality, stabilizer modes, no viewfinder, easy of use, size & weight, burst modes
CONS: picture to picture lag could be a bit faster and flash could go longer
PROS: 10x Zoom -compact size -Image stabilizer-Picture Quality- Zoom during Video
CONS: Maybe a little higher pixel
PROS: All the features work as advertised, good access to frequently used features, buy a 2MB card-you'll be taking videos
CONS: Overly vivid colors in many modes, can't handle large contrasts, I'd buy a larger memory card if it was compatible
PROS: Very Good 10x optical zoom with Panasonic's Mega OIS gives a very good picture even for people with a little shaky hand.
CONS: It uses Panasonic Proprietary battery which is expensive and also a disadvantage if you go for a three day trek in a jungle :) (Panasonic claim its a traveller camera!!!, at full charge by using flash
PROS: Small size, 10X optical zoom, optical image stabilization that works all the way to full zoom, and much less noise than prior panasonic models,
CONS: Lacks manual controls for all aspects of the picture taking (but most users won't miss that, and ones who do will probably only be happy with slr's anyway).
PROS: 10x zoom, image stabilization, wide-screen video, big LCD, fast
CONS: Detached lens cap, off-center tripod socket, few manual controls
PROS: This camera is better than I thought it would be. I ws looking for a hybrid that woulf also taker great movies. I recently took a vacation to try out the camera. I concentrated on the movie mode. I was not disappointed. I especially liked the 16:9 30fps mode. However in this mode the file sizes are quit large. You will definitely need a large capacity SD card. I took a 1 1/2 minute clip and the file size was 130 MB. Another great feature is the image stabilization. I took a picture of a boat at full zoom and the picture was clear and sharp even though the picture on the LCD screen was shaking badly. This is a great camera for the average user. I can't say if it is great for the professional.
CONS: No viewfinder. A little difficult to use the LCD in bright sunlight but the power LCD screen will help.
