  Good beginner camera

PROS: 10x optical zoom allows great quality zoom images, and detailed supermacro shots. Solid construction has survived a few falls that would have seriously hurt other cameras. Even at 4.0 megapixels, most 8x10 photos will print beautifully.

CONS: Very slow to focus, and long time between shots. As a side effect, zooming takes a while. Auto focus can pick the wrong things to focus on and trial and error is the only thing that will fix some shots.
