TOTAL USER RATINGS: 8
PROS: Great picutures, lots of choices, and features. Big Screen.
CONS: Cant erase all pictures at once while in the camera, only one by one,...goes out of focus while filming continuously,...doesnt hold up to an active photographer,...the snap button pops off after about 8 months use, 30,000 pictures,...I'm upset. now what?
OVERALL SCORE:9/10
PROS: Large zoom range, extendable with teleconverter to over 700mm (35mm equiv.) which keeps the aperture as open as without the TC (that doesn't happen with DSLRs). Great image quality with a simple to use, all in one package. Takes AA batteries, which can make or break a shooting session if power runs out (as they're available everywhere). Properly exposed shots at 400 ISO very usable, noise really only apparent if underexposed. LCD, though relatively low resolution, actually very good. EVF sticks out a bit from back of body, making it easier to view through than flush mounted.
CONS: Wide range of zoom only 36mm equiv. Takes Memory Stick, which is more expensive than other types of cards, also only interchangable with other Sony cameras.
OVERALL SCORE:8/10
PROS: It's ease of use;plenty of manual settings for the aspiring photog;produces excellent pix, even to 400...and then some;feels great, and all ajustments are easy access and use.
CONS: some noise at 800 and alot at 1000...but it also depends on the shot; would be nice with a hotshoe but the flash throw is excellent!
PROS: Comfy weight, easy to hold. Menus are simple to navigate. Video quality excellent and macro shots very rewarding. An "almost SLR" at an easy to handle price! We were hoping for a "wow" factor in both our previous digital cameras... and finally, this Sony delivers! Had our budget been larger, we would have made a different choice, but we are delighted to use this camera until that lottery is won!
CONS: Few so far... but we've only had the camera for a couple of weeks. We'll amend this section as our experience with it grows.
OVERALL SCORE:8/10
PROS: Value for the cost, Image Quality, Zoom, Style, Ease of use, Battery life
CONS: Capturing motion objects, size (if you need sleek & small), LCD size
PROS: Great stabilized 12x zoom lense, excellent photos from both auto and manual settings, strong flash, sharp focus, positive ergonomics
CONS: Flash recharge somewhat slower than desired, included battery recharger very slow
PROS: Easy to operate. Zoom is spectacular! Feels very comfotable in my hand. Turn on is quick. For me it was between the Canon S3 IS and the Sony won out. Canon was not as easy to learn and operate.
CONS: So far I have not experinced any.
PROS: High ISO, very good optical zoom, great image quality, fast performance, zooming when shoting video, video quality is good.
CONS: Battery life should be improved, joy stick control is quite sticky to use.
