Instagram videos just got a much needed quality infusion thanks to Hyperlaps, an app that should make amateur-shot short form vids more viewable. A vast improvement on traditional time-lapse videos, Hyperlapse operates on the same principle but takes it to the next level by incorporating image stabilizing technology that eliminates jerky motion associated with sped-up video. The results are being seen all over the interwebs now.
Hyperlapse technology isn't new. Recent reports showed that a group of Microsoft developers are developing an algorithm intended specifically for use on an app for Windows phones and tablets. Now it appears Microsoft has been beaten to the punch by Instagram, whose app is currently available for free on iTunes for iOS smartphones and tablets running iOS 7.0 or later.
Those interested in testing out the tech without taking on another social media profile may be pleased to learn the app doesn't require an Instagram account. Owing to Facebook's ownership of Instagram, Hyperlapse videos can be shared via either social media platform. Get ready for life in fast-forward.
