Equivalent to the 50mm focal length in 35mm standards, the 25m lens offers this traditional length for a very reasonable asking price. Coming in at $400, the lens has 9 elements in 7 groups including 2 aspherical lenses. It also has a 7 blade circular aperture diaphragm. Made with a similar build design as the Olympus 45mm f1.8 lens, the 25mm is small in stature and light as a feather (weighing only 4.8 oz).
The lens offers great depth of field--thanks in part to the micro four-thirds sensor nestled behind it--while still maintaining separation between the subject and background. Used on the Olympus OM-D E-M10, the combo is easy to transport and carry even for long amounts of time.
I took this combo to the street of New Orleans to see how it handled a variety of situations. Although the extremely low lighting for the ghost walk made me nervous, the lens did great. It even survived the test of a busy ten year old playing with water and bubbles. Check out these sample images to see for yourself. The Olympus 25mm f1.8 lens will not disappoint!
