Panasonic has introduced the Lumix GH4 Digital Single Lens Mirrorless camera with 4K resolution video recording. The new DSLM camera features a magnesium alloy body that is splash and dust proof for added durability.
The Lumix GH4 features a 16.05-megapixel digital live MOS sensor with a Venus Engine image processor with a quad-core CPU for high speed signal processing. The GH4 can shoot at a maximum ISO of 25,600 with high speed burst shooting at 12 fps for up to 40 RAW stills and up to 100 stills in other formats. The OLED live view finder display features a 2,359 K dot resolution while the rear touch enabled display boasts a 1,036K dot resolution.
With 4K video recording technology, the GH4 boasts the ability to shoot at resolutions of 4096 x 2160 at 24fps and 3840 x 2160 at 30 fps. Users can stream video from the device while recording in real time using the mini HDMI port located on the device. Additional ports include a 3.5mm microphone jack, a 3.5mm headphone jack, AV output, flash sync terminal, and a 2.5mm remote control jack. Panasonic also included VFR technology for slow and fast motion recording In Full-HD as well as the ability to record time lapse and stop motion video.
Panasonic included Wi-Fi capabilities on the Panasonic Lumix GH4, allowing users to upload files instantly and even use a mobile device to remotely control the camera with the Panasonic Image App. Users can also pair the camera with a mobile device using NFC technology or a QR Code for easy sharing.
Panasonic states that the Lumix GH4 DSLM camera is the first mirrorless camera that can shoot video at 4k resolutions, but there is no word yet on pricing or availability.
