Zeiss is adding to its lineup of E-mount and X-mount lenses with the new 50mm f/2.8 macro lens. This lens offers users a great focal length for portraiture. When allowing for the 1.5x crop factor of APS-C sensors the lens effectively becomes a 75mm focal length. This lens enters the same family as the Zeiss Touit 12mm f/2.8 and the Zeiss Touit 32mm f/1.8.
The Touit 50mm is also a macro lens that offers a 1:1 magnification ratio. The lens offers the same high-end manufacturing and materials as the other Zeiss Touit lenses. The lens has 2 aspherical elements and two low dispersion elements. The 50mm lens has a round iris with nine blades.
The 50mm f/2.8 lens will be available in both E-mounts and X-mounts in March 2014. The lens will sell for $999.00.
