Polaroid announced the Polaroid Socialmatic instant camera today, which came as a result of an agreement between C&A Licensing LLC and Socialmatic LLC. The Polaroid Socialmatic instant camera blends vintage Polaroid photography with wireless connectivity.
Featuring built in Wi-Fi and running an Android operating system, the Polaroid Socialmatic instant camera will allow users to take photos with a vintage twist and instantly upload themto their favorite social networks.
The camera will feature a 14-megapixel front facing camera and a 2-megapixel rear facing camera, and 4GB of internal storage in addition to the MicroSD card slot. When users are unable to find a Wi-Fi network, they will be able to sync to the Bluetooth on a mobile device to enable sharing. The camera will have a 4.5-inch touchscreen LCD display and an LED flash will be located on front of the camera for low lighting. In addition to uploading and sharing photos instantly, users will have the option to print images using Zink paper. Thanks to the Android operating system, users will also be able to retouch, add text, icons, and make other changes before printing a 2x3 photo.
The Polaroid Socialmatic camera will be available in fall 2014, with no word yet on pricing.
