Panasonic announced the Lumix DMC-LZ40 featuring a 42x optical zoom lens from 22mm wide angle lens complete with Optical Image Stabilizer and 20-megapixel CCD.
The Lumix DMC-LZ40 features an Intelligent Auto mode that leaves the focusing up to the camera, freeing up users to snap photos without configuring the settings. iA mode will automatically adjust the image stabilizer, face detection, scene, and exposure. There are also a number of other scene-specific modes included on the camera.
In addition to high resolution photos, the compact DMC-LZ40 will also capture HD video in 720p. The camera features a 3-inch 460K-dot LCD screen, making it easy to frame photographs and review images on the back of the camera. Images can be retouched directly from the camera using Creative Control and Creative Retouch, which includes up to 15 filter effects. Users will also be able to capture panorama photographs as well as apply 13 different filters.
The Lumix DMC-LZ40 will be available on Panasonic's website as well as at select retailers, with no word yet on the release date or pricing.
