Sigma Announces Four New "Art" Lenses

Today Sigma unveils four new lenses in their "Art" product line: the 30mm f/1.4 DC HSM available for Sigma, Canon and Nikon DSLR cameras and the 30mm f/2.8 DN, 19mm f/2.8 DN and the 60mm f/2.8 DN available for Micro Four Thirds and Sony E-mount cameras.

Sigma recently reorganized their new lenses into three distinct product lines: Art, Contemporary and Sports. With the reorganization of their lenses and the additional quality assurance measures called "A1" they plan to create a superior lens collection that stands above the rest.

30mm f/1.4 DC HSM
The Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC HSM was designed for the large-aperture APS-C format cameras. Used with these cropped sensor cameras, the angle of view is equivalent to 45mm on a 35mm camera. The lens promises to deliver the highest level of image quality due to its design and construction. The lens includes a Hyper Sonic Motor for quiet, high-speed autofocusing, a 9 blade rounded diaphragm that creates a bokeh effect and brass bayonet mount designed to stand up to long-term, repeated use. The lens has a minimum focusing distance of 11.8 inches. Overall, the lens has been optimized to reduce field curvature, minimize spherical distortion and maximize smooth and accurate focusing.

60mm f/2.8 DN
The Sigma 60mm f/2.8 DN was designed for the Micro Four Thirds and Sony E-mount cameras. It has an angle of view equivalent to 120mm on the Micro Four Thirds system and 90mm on the E-mount system (35mm equivalent focal length). The minimum focusing distance is 19.7 inches. This lens contains Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass, which helps minimize chromatic aberration. Created for telephoto shooting and portrait work, the lens has a 7 blade rounded diaphragm that creates a bokeh effect and brass bayonet mount designed to stand up to long-term, repeated use. The lens is available in both silver and black.

30mm f/2.8 DN
The Sigma 30mm f/2.8 DN was designed for the Micro Four Thirds and Sony E-mount cameras. The lens has an angle of view equivalent to 60mm on the Micro Four Thirds system and 45mm on the E-mount system (35mm equivalent focal length). Its minimum focusing distance is 11.8 inches. Created for everyday shooting and engineered as a take-anywhere lens, the lens has a 7 blade rounded diaphragm that creates a bokeh effect and brass bayonet mount designed to stand up to long-term, repeated use. The lens is available in both silver and black.

19mm f/2.8 DN
The Sigma 19mm f/2.8 DN was designed for the Micro Four Thirds and Sony E-mount cameras. The lens has an angle of view equivalent to 38mm on the Micro Four Thirds system and 28.5mm on the E-mount system (35mm equivalent focal length).  Its minimum focusing distance is 7.9 inches. Designed for street shooting, landscape and studio work, the lens has a 7 blade rounded diaphragm that creates a bokeh effect and brass bayonet mount designed to stand up to long-term, repeated use. The lens is available in both silver and black.

In addition to these new lenses, Sigma is introducing a USB docking station that connects to the new lenses. The new Sigma Optimization Pro software and USB Dock are designed exclusively for these new product lines and will enable Sigma users to connect their lenses to their computers to update firmware and fine-tune focus parameters.

Pricing and availability on all of these lenses has yet to be announced. The USB docking station will be available in early 2013.
