The announcement of the TG-830 is Olympus's second new camera in their "Rugged" lineup. The TG-830 is designed for active users who need an equally robust camera to document their adventures. The 830 is waterproof up to 33 feet, shockproof up to 6.6 feet, crushproof to 220 lbs, freezeproof and dustproof. The TG-830 is the recipient of a 16 megapixel BSI CMOS sensor. It has a 5x zoom or 10x SR zoom. 406 thousand dots make up the 3 inch LCD screen. It also has full HD video for those exciting adventures when a still image is not enough.
Just like the TG-2, the TG-830 has an HDR backlight. However, it also come equipped with other options for photographing in difficult lighting conditions - hand-held starlight (for night images), high-speed sequential shooting (for rapid, continuous images) and smart panorama (for those extreme wide angle images).
Upgrades include GPS and e.Compass. Offered in red, blue, black or silver, the TG-830 will be available in the spring or summer of 2013 for a retail price of $280.
