Olympus begs you to get closer to the action with the SZ-16. A 14 megapixel CMOS sensor powered by the same processor as their other newly released cameras - the TruePic VI image processor. Equipped with a 24x optical zoom with the equivalent of 25-600mm, the camera is still lightweight and easy to carry. Olympus promises the SZ-16 iHS provides a level of imaging that feels like a DSLR.
The SZ-16 is optimized for 1080p full HD video. The Multi-Motion Movie Image Stabilization helps the camera to record blur-free video. The camera features 11 magic filters which can be used with either still images or video. Additionally, Beauty Make-up Mode allows for in camera retouching of skin tones, adding eyeliner or eye shadow or applying blush to your subjects. Panorama mode offers a full 360- degrees of viewing.
Olympus' built-in image stabilization allows users to reduce blur caused by camera shake. This becomes extremely helpful when using the Super-Resolution Zoom of 48x magnification or the Telephoto Macro Mode.
The Olympus SZ-16 will be available in March for an estimated street price of about $230. It will be available in both white and silver.
