Black Friday 2012: Tips on Finding Digital Camera Deals

It's only two weeks until Black Friday and I'm already starting to get giddy. The hunt for the deal, the rush of the purchase-it's a great feeling to save so much money in a few short hours. But standing in long lines, shopping at 3am and pushing your way through the crowds is not for everyone. Retailers know this and they are responding. No longer are the best deals only available on Black Friday. Online companies and retail stores such as Newegg and Target are now offering Black November deals. Wal-Mart is opening their doors at 8pm on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day to jump start your shopping experience.

The biggest shopping event of the year is almost here. Are you ready? Cameras and electronics will be the hottest purchases this year. Check out our buying tips and awesome deals we have already found for you.

Buying tips

Do your research. Do not wait until the last minute to decide what digital camera, tablet or laptop you want. Research the top digital cameras this year in our 2012 Holiday Guide. After you've made your decision, peruse the ads and check out websites such as newegg.com, amazon.com, bestbuy.com, walmart.com and target.com. These website are filled with the hottest cameras and the best deals you can find.

If you plan on visiting the stores...

  • Prioritize your purchases. Figure out which deals are most important. Is a specific camera only available in stores or could it be purchased online? Which deals are you willing to withstand the lines and fight the crowds?
  • Make a list. Don't overspend on your purchases or buy items you didn't plan for. Accessories have a tendency to NOT be on sale on Black Friday. With the electronics drastically reduced, the stores need to find their profit somewhere. You may find that you will save money by buying accessories such as camera bags, chargers and batteries before or after Black Friday. Again, watch for the sales and be a smart shopper.
  • Bring along your Smartphone and a friend. Many retailers are offering a price match guarantee.  Take advantage of this by doing your homework. Figure out which stores price match. They might not have the best advertised deal on that camera you are looking for; however, they do have an amazing deal on the tablet you want. Get the best of both worlds by planning ahead. Also, a friend will make the whole experience more enjoyable. Standing in line for a few hours by yourself is no treat, but having a friend by your side can make the shopping fun and memorable.

If you plan on shopping online...

  • Grab the deals early, without the hassle.  We've done the work for you. Check out the deals by folowing the link here.
