Samsung Adds Ultrawide Zoom, Mid-Telephoto Prime to NX Lens Lineup

It's pretty clear that compact, mirrorless cameras are wildly popular and here to stay. Samsung, one of the leaders in the category, continues to expand its presence, introducing two new lenses that join its NX system of compact system cameras, a 12-24mm f/4-5.6 ED ultra-wide zoom lens for $599.99 and the 45mm f/1.8 mid-telephoto prime lens $299.99.

The two lenses offer a balance of portability and ease-of-use, and should give you an easy way to explore your photographic creativity, while keeping the weight of your gear down.

The Samsung NX Lens 12-24mm f/4-5.6 ED can capture dramatic landscapes and also take shots in confined interior spaces. At 7.3 ounces, it's also compact - a good choice for traveling. Image quality is heightened with a low-dispersion glass lens element and two aspherical glass elements designed for sharpness with low chromatic aberration.

Samsung's NX Lens 45mm f/1.8 weight just 4 ounces. It's a mid-telephoto prime lens that is designed to deliver a creamy background blur (bokeh), desirable for creating stunning portraits. The bright F1.8 aperture allows for fast shooting and will perform equally well in bright and low-light environments.

Both lenses include Samsung's i-Function, an control system that allows you to easily adjust shutter speed, aperture and ISO settings. The new lenses are compatible with Samsung's complete line-up of NX Series cameras, including the 2012 line of NX Smart Cameras: the NX1000, NX210 and NX20.
