Eye-Fi is known for their clever little cards, and this latest model manages to shovel in 16GB of storage space next to the Wi-Fi radio that gives the lineup its name. Coming in at the same price of $99.99 as the old model, the new Eye-Fi flagship card doubles the 8GB of flash memory and ups the write speed from a Class 6 card up to a Class 10 version.
With the new Eye-Fi, you can upload your pictures straight from the camera, even if it isn't a model that offers wireless connectivity. Shots can be uploaded directly from the card to one of several different services, or, if you aren't in a Wi-Fi-equipped area, you can push the pictures to a smartphone or tablet intermediary.
The cleverest part of the card is Eye-Fi's "Endless Memory Mode." When you successfully upload a picture from the card, it'll auto-delete it from the card, freeing up space for more shots.
You can even have your pictures geotagged via the WPS Geotagging service - though that only works on Wi-Fi networks that are registered with the database.
The new 16GB card is available for pre-order from Amazon.com for $99.99. Soon, the card will hit international stores in Australia for $108, and Japan for ¥9980. Effective immediately, the previous $99 card, the Class 6 Eye-Fi 8GB, will be bumped down to $79.99.
