Fujifilm Announces X-S1 and FinePix Lineup for CES 2012

Fujifilm sticks to the script in its introduction of seventeen new FinePix cameras (that's not counting the pricier, flashier, retro-ier X-S1) adding modest updates to its ultrazoom and compact lines. As in the past, several models are offered within most lines with variations on feature sets and price points. Everything on the roster down to the AA-powered FinePix AX550 offers at least 720p HD video.

Fujifilm X-S1
On the surface, the X-S1 has more in common with the ultrazoom likes of the HS cameras of previous generations than the sleek X100 and X10. It's what's inside that counts, Fujifilm's reps have assured us. This model carries a 2/3-inch 12 megapixel CMOS sensor, 7 fps full resolution burst shooting and a 1.4 million dot EVF. The fixed 26x zoom lens covers a 24-624mm equivalent range. With a maximum aperture range of f/2.8-5.6, it is made up of 17 glass elements in 12 groups.

The X-S1 wouldn't be complete without 1080 HD video recording, a 3.0-inch tiliting LCD and RAW shooting capability. A mini-HDMI output is available, naturally without the required HDMI cable. The X-S1 becomes available in January for a steep $799.95.

Fujifilm FinePix HS30EXR, HS25EXR
True to form the HS30EXR and its HS25EXR sibling is a high-octane ultrazoom with a 30x (24-720mm) optical zoom operated by manually twisting the lens barrel. It's also equipped with a 3.0-inch tilting LCD of 460k-dot resolution, 1080 HD video, sensor-shift image stabilization and a new 1/2-inch 16 megapixel CMOS EXR sensor. The electronic viewfinder offers some improvement in terms of resolution, boosted to 920k-dots from the HS20's 200k-dot EVF.

Fujifilm FinePix HS30EXR

The HS25 EXR will use AA batteries to draw its power and will not offer RAW image recording, but aside from that will match up spec-for-spec with the 30. Fujifilm claims a battery life of 600 shots per charge ofhte HS30's lithium-ion battery. Both cameras are expected in mid-March to the tune of $499.95 for the HS30 EXR and $399.95 for the HS25.

Fujifilm FinePix F770EXR, F750EXR
Also sporting Fujifilm's premium EXR technology are the F770 and F750. They'll offer 20x optical zoom lenses (25-500mm), the new 16 megapixel CMOS EXR sensors and 1080 HD video. The F770 EXR is a step-up option offering RAW capability and on-board GPS. Both cameras will be powered by lithium-ion batteries and will be equipped with reduced-res high speed movie modes, 8 fps full-resolution burst shooting and a 3.0-inch 460k-dot LCD. Due at the end of March, the F770 will retail for $379.95 and the F750EXR for $349.95.

Fujifilm FinePix SL300, S4500, S4200
These ultrazooms offer 14 megapixel CCD sensors and DSLR-styling. The SL300 and S4500 will have a 30x optical zoom lens with the S4200 offering a slightly shorter 24x zoom. Each will have a 3.0-inch LCD, 720p HD video capability and sensor shift image stabilization. Only the SL300 will have a hot shoe and a lithium-ion battery - the S4200 and S4500 are AA-powered. Look for the SL300 in March for $299.95. The S4200 and S4500 debut in February at $229.95 and $259.95 respectively.

Fujifilm FinePix XP150, XP100, XP50
These rugged, waterproof compacts all feature a 14 megapixel CMOS sensor, 2.7-inch LCD and an internally contained 5x optical zoom lens. They vary in degrees of toughness - the XP150 and XP100 are waterproof to 33 feet, shockproof to 6.5 feet and freezeproof to 14 degrees F. The XP50 is waterproof to a shallower 16.5 foot depth, shockproof to 5 feet and freezeproof to 14 degrees F. The XP150 also features built-in GPS.

The XP50 will be introduced in March for $199.95, the XP150 and XP100 will cost $279.95 and $249.95 respectively.

Fujifilm FinePix T400, T350
These "T for Travel Zoom" compacts sport 10x optical zoom lenses, 16 megapixel CCD sensors and 3.0-inch LCDs. They are powered by lithium-ion batteries rated by Fujifilm to 200 shots per charge. Each will be equipped with sensor shift stabilization and 720p HD video recording. Shipping in March the T400 will cost $179.95, the T350 $159.95.

Fujifilm FinePix T400

Fujifilm FinePix JZ250, JZ100
The FinePix JZ250 offers a 16 megapixel CCD sensor and 3.0-inch display to the JZ100's 14 megapixels and 2.7-inch LCD. Both offer 720p HD video and lithium-ion power. They ship in March to the tune of $149.95 and $129.95, respectively.

Fujifilm FinePix JX580, JX500, AX550
Back-to-basics 5x optical zoom compacts, the JX580 and JX500 offer only digital image stabilization. The JX580 offers a 16 megapixel sensor with 3.0-inch LCD; the JX500 offers 14 megapixels and a 2.7-inch display. Both are powered by rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. The FinePix AX550 is a AA-powered 5x compact with a 16 megapixel CCD and a 2.7-inch LCD. The JX580 and JX500 arrive at the end of February for $119.95 and $99.95 each; the AX550 arrives in March at $89.95.
