The Coolpix S8200, S6200, S1200pj and S100 are joining Nikon's family of S-Series compact cameras, according to an announcement made by the company this evening.

The four new cameras are all backed by Nikon core technologies, including Vibration Reduction, Scene Auto Selector and EXPEED C2 digital image processing, and are said to deliver enhanced zoom range along with new ways to share photos and video. The latest S-Series cameras all feature Smart Portrait System, incorporating In-Camera Red-Eye Fix, Face-Priority AF, Smile Mode, Blink Warning and Skin Softening.

The new Coolpix S8200 and S6200 provide users with high performance zoom quality with NIKKOR optics, while the Coolpix S100 dons a newly enhanced OLED touchscreen. Nikon offers consumers a fresh way to share content with a built-in projector and compatibility for Apple devices with the new Coolpix S1200pj.

With this addition of four advanced models to the company's Style Series of compacts, we are looking forward to seeing how Nikon will compete amongst strong competitors like Sony and Canon come September.

Nikon Coolpix S6200
Kicking off the new lineup of Nikon S-Series models, the super slim S6200 packs a 10x Zoom-NIKKOR ED glass lens and 720p HD video capability. The compact camera also sports a 2.7-inch LCD display and a 16 megapixel resolution with VR system to help eliminate blur. Equipped with a selection of Special Effects, the S6200 allows users to experiment with different techniques while shooting movies and stills.

Designed to create high-quality photos and videos, the Coolpix S6200 is easy to carry with an aluminum body of just 1-inch deep. It's priced at $229.95 and is available in five different colors.

Nikon Coolpix S100
With an enhanced user interface, the 3.5-inch OLED touchscreen Coolpix S100 presents users with a vivid screen to play back images and videos on. The S100 features a 16 megapixel BSI CMOS sensor and Full HD 1080p recording with stereo sound offering consumers a high performance movie experience. Stocked with a 5x optical zoom, the Coolpix S100 has 3D-image recording capabilities with a wide selection of Filter Effects so users can personalize their images in playback mode.
Available in a range of colors, the Coolpix S100 is estimated to retail at $299.95.

Nikon Coolpix S8200
The 16.1 megapixel BSI CMOS sensor-equipped Coolpix S8200 helps capture images in challenging lighting conditions, with an exceptional low-light performance, claims Nikon. The camera can capture five shots at up to six frames-per-second. With a 3.0-inch LCD display, the S8200 features Full HD 1080p video and the ability to zoom during recording.

In addition, the S8200 also hosts Special Effects and Filter Effects, including Selective Color and Fisheye Effect. The compact device packs a 14x zoom and can also capture vast scenery with the Easy Panorama Mode. The Coolpix S8200 comes in a trio of colors and will cost approximately $329.95.

Nikon Coolpix S1200pj
Sporting a 3.0-inch LCD screen display, the S1200pj includes critical features like a 14.1 megapixel resolution, 5x zoom and recording for HD 720p videos. Like its fellow newcomers, the S1200pj offers users the ability to design their own pictures and movies with Special Effects and Filter Effects.

The Coolpix S1200pj takes sharing a step further with a 20-lumen built-in projector that is capable of projecting an image up to 60-inches wide and is compatible with an iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. This share-friendly device is sold for $429.95 and is offered in black and pink.
