Nikon announces the AF-S DX Micro-NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8 lens for its cropped-sensor DSLR class. It's a lightweight, compact and maybe most importantly, affordable option for Nikon shooters. Weighing 9 ounces, it offers an equivalent 60mm angle for DX-format camera bodies, an ideal length for portrait shooting.
This latest piece of glass offers a minimum focusing distance of 6.4 inches and 1:1 reproduction. It incorporates Nikon's Silent Wave Motor technology for quiet auto focus operation. The new 40mm is constructed with a seven-blade diaghram and proprietary Super Integrated Coatings to cut down ghosting and lens flare.
Pricing and availability
The AF-S DX Micro-NIKKOR f/2.8 is expected to be available in August with an MSRP of $279.95.
