Nikon has obtained a patent for a projector that is built into a DSLR camera. This is an interesting extension of the camera/projector combination that Nikon is already using in a line of Point and Shoot cameras that began with the Coolpix S1000pj, reviewed here in March 2010, and is continued in the latest version, the Coolpix S1100pj.
According to the patent, the projector will operate through the camera's electronic viewfinder. When the camera is set to electronic viewfinder mode, the image will be displayed in the viewfinder, but when set to projector mode, the image will be projected through the viewfinder to a screen. We will be on the lookout for further information about the development of this possible new camera.
