Panasonic adds two more slim, basic models to its Lumix lineup. The Lumix brand turns ten years old in 2011, and Panasonic celebrates a decade of digital compacts with these and two other launches today.
The Lumix FH5 and FH2 build on the models of their predecessors with 28mm wide angle Leica DC lenses and 720p HD video recording capability.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH5
The ultra-compact, 16.1 megapixel FH5 offers a 4x optical zoom lens, which Panasonic claims can be extended to 5x by using Intelligent Zoom technology to preserve photo quality. The FH5 and FH2 are equipped with iA Intelligent Auto mode and optical image stabilization. This rendition of iA will include two new features - subject tracking and an Intelligent Exposure technology which will attempt to correct for blown highlights and blocked shadows.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH2
The Lumix FH2 will offer a 14.1 megapixel sensor and the same feature set as the FH5. Both models will include face detection, automatic scene selection technology, and a Venus Engine VI image processor. Each camera will feature a 2.7-inch LCD with 260k-dots.
Pricing and availability
Panasonic has not released pricing at this time and will announce prices 30 days before the cameras will be available.
