Gearing up for CES later this week, Samsung launches another full 1080 HD camcorder with a BSI CMOS sensor. But the biggest news in this launch might be its price tag - the Q10 fetches an MSRP of just $300. That could add up to a lot of bang for your HD buck.
The HMX-Q10 offers some familiar features - optical image stabilization, a 5 megapixel backside illuminated CMOS sensor and a Schneider-Kreuznach f/1.8 10x optical zoom lens. Users will find the 2.7-inch touch panel LCD familiar, though the grip has been redesigned for more comfortable use in either the left or right hand.
Video is recorded in 1920 x 1080 at 60i or 720 at 60p. A standard definition resolution is available at 60i. Still image capture produces 4.9 megapixel interpolated images. The 2.7-inch touch screen LCD uses a new Smart Access UI. The camera has no built-in memory and accepts SD/SDHC memory format.
Pricing and availability
The Samsung HMX-Q10 is slated to arrive on store shelves in February. The suggested retail price as noted above is $299.99.
