New Nikkor AF-S 35mm f/1.4G and AF-S Nikkor 200mm f/2G ED VR II lenses

The Nikkor 35mm f/1.4 and 200mm f/2 lenses announced today are respectively the eighth and ninth new lenses from Nikon this year. They update popular existing lenses.

AF-S Nikkor 35mm f/1.4G
When coupled to an DX-format DSLR like the Nikon D3000, the 35mm f/1.4 will provide an angle of view equivalent to 52.5mm. It is made up of 10 elements in 7 groups including one aspherical lens element to minimize aberration. The 35mm features a rear focus mechanism with two available focusing modes - M/A, or manual priority AF, and M for standard manual focus.

AF-S Nikkor 200mm f/2G ED VR II
The updated 200mm f/2 lens uses Nikon's Vibration Reduction II system for a claimed gain of up to four stops of shutter speed. It's built with an internal focusing system and VR II stabilization. The lens is constructed of 13 elements in nine groups with three ED Extra-low Dispersion elements and a Super ED element to combat aberration.

Using Tripod Detection mode, the lens will automatically de-activate stabilization when it's being used on a tripod. The 200mm offers three focus modes - A/M, M/A and Manual.

Pricing and availability
The AF-S Nikkor 35mm f/1.4G will be available in November costing $1799.95. The AF-S Nikkor 200mm f/2G ED VR II becomes available in October at a price of $5999.95.
