Samsung announces the PL90 compact digital camera today with a built-in USB connector for speedy image transfer. The in-camera USB can also be used to charge the camera.

The PL90 will also be equipped with a 12.2 megapixel sensor, a 4x optical zoom lens, and a 2.7-inch LCD. It will record 640x480 videos at 30 or 15 fps. Other features include Samsung's Smart Auto shooting mode, Perfect Portrait system, and a Self Portrait function that alerts the shooter when he or she is in frame.

Samsung recently announced a pocket HD camcorder, the HMX-E10, with a built-in USB connector similar to the PL90's. It's a feature that Kodak has also offered in its Z series of pocket camcorders.
Pricing and availability
The Samsung PL90 will ship to consumers in September 2010 for an MSRP of $149.99.
