Panasonic launches the HDC-SDX1 today, a full 1080 HD camcorder that will record videos to an SD, SDHC or SDXC memory card. The whole system is billed as the lightest full HD camcorder currently available, weighing just under half of a pound.
The HDC is equipped with a 2.7-inch wide aspect touch LCD of 230,400 dot composition. It will record video at 1920x1080 resolution at 60i in AVCHD format. Resolutions of 720p and 640x480 are available at 30p in MP4 format.
Audio is recorded in Dolby Digital in AVCHD format. Still images may be captured at 2.8 or 2.1 megapixels (3:2 and 16:9 resolutions, respectively). A Panasonic-branded 35.8mm wide angle lens offers 16.8x optical zoom and a maximum aperture at wide angle of f/1.8. The HDC-SDX1 is also equipped with Hybrid O.I.S. optical image stabilization and O.I.S. lock.

The SDX1 is slated to arrive in September 2010 for a suggested retail price of $499.95
