Canon U.S.A. has announced its fifth annual Photography in the Parks Photo Contest. The contest, which takes place from May 17 through September 30, 2010, invites participants to submit their best nature photographs (landscape and wildlife). Participants will compete in two divisions: the teen division, for 13-17 year olds and the adult division, for those 18 and older. The photos submitted must be taken at a park or monument in the United States. After entering their photos, participants can forward an e-postcard of their submitted images to their friends and family.
The winning photographers will be announced in December. Nine photographers in each division will be awarded prizes consisting of Canon's latest photography equipment. The Grand Prize winner will also receive a trip to a U.S. National Park of his or her choice, within the lower 48 states. Photos should be submitted to the Canon Digital Learning Center website, which will display all winning images and honorable mentions.
Canon Photography in the Parks Program
From June through August, Canon U.S.A. will offer free photography workshops to visitors to four National Parks - Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Acadia and Yellowstone. The workshops, led by photography instructors, will teach various techniques while participants walk and explore the park. Canon will also provide top-of-the-line camera equipment for participants to use at no charge. Canon is also offering video shooting classes at Jackson Hole, Wyoming and Bar Harbor, Maine, where each participant will learn about the basics of shooting HD video with a Canon EOS Digital SLR camera. For additional information about these workshops, see the Canon Digital Learning Center website and click on the menu item, "workshops".
