The latest addition to Pentax's budget-oriented Optio E series is the Pentax Optio E90. With an introductory price just under $100, it offers basic features at a low price.
The Optio E90 will be powered by AA batteries and will offer a 3x optical zoom lens, a 2.7 inch LCD, and a 10 megapixel sensor. Unlike the higher-priced (and spec-ed) Optio I-10 and H90 it is announced alongside, the Optio E90 doesn't stray far from traditional Pentax design. Cost-conscious shoppers will be able to choose from "wine red" and black color options.
Along with a 31.5-94.5mm equivalent focal range, the Optio E90 will offer digital image stabilization, VGA quality video recording, and an ISO sensitivity range up to 1600 (though not at full resolution). A rubber-coated grip should keep it relatively stable in the hand.
Pricing and availability
The Pentax Optio E90 will ship in February 2010 starting at a price of $99.95.
