Olympus has announced a firmware update for the Olympus E-3 digital SLR. The firmware version 1.4 update will improve the auto focus operation of the camera.
The E-3 Digital SLR has a highly advanced auto focus system, boasting a fully crossed array 11-point system with side-to-side and near-to-far precision tracking. The camera's data processing engine gets information from 11 biaxial sensors, with a total of 88 data points to figure correct focus.
The firmware update is available through the Olympus Master and Olympus studio software. A guide to updating the camera can be found on Olympus's web site.
