Lens manufacturer Tamron announced today the SP AF60mm macro lens, boasting a maximum aperture of F/2.0. It offers shooters 1:1 magnification and life-size representation of subjects with a 100mm working distance (about 3.9 inches). This Di II lens is designed exclusively for use with an APS-C size image sensor, and will be available with mounts for Canon, Sony and Nikon cameras including the D40, D40X, and D60.
The SP AF60mm contains two low dispersion glass elements and multi-layered anti-reflection coatings for better images in a variety of situations. Given the specs, it should be a nice tool for a photographer looking to expand an arsenal of lenses. Tamron has not yet released information on price or launch dates.
