A press release issued yesterday by Olympus's European arm supplied details on a rebranding effort for Olympus's line of waterproof, shockproof, freezeproof cameras. According to reporting by PhotographyBlog.com, the model line formerly known as the Stylus SW series in the U.S. (and the µ [Mju] SW series in Europe) will be rebranded as the Stylus TOUGH series for 2009.

Olympus Stylus 1050 SW
Olympus has yet to issue an official American press release on the subject, but the aforementioned European announcement also confirmed that new Stylus TOUGH models will be rolled out for 2009 – continuing a series of models that has been around since 2006.
No additional details about the new products were provided, though it's likely that Olympus is anticipating a first quarter product launch at either CES or PMA.
