Canon shows how to carve your own balsa wood EOS camera

If you've ever wanted to know what all goes in to making the balsa mock-ups still used by the design departments of many manufacturers, Canon's revealing trade secrets on a recently unearthed "carve your own balsa wood EOS" tutorial.

Housed under Canon's "Camera Museum" section of the corporate site, the tutorial walks viewers through the alarmingly laborious process that is mock-up construction. If you're really interested in rolling carving your own, Canon has provided enough detail to get things started, at the very least.

Our thoughts? Wire up the guts from a cheap point-and-shoot on the inside and this could be the DIY camera project of the year.
