In celebration of the firm's 75th anniversary, Nikon has launched a redesigned Nikkor 50mm f/1.4.

A mainstay of many amateur and professional gear bags alike, the 50mm f/1.4 is a classic lens design providing a fast maximum aperture and a perspective that "closely replicates the visual perspective of the human eye" on a full frame camera.
The AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G's redesigned optics and Nikon's Super Integrated Coatings lead to improved flare and aberration control with the new lens. A nine-blade rounded aperture also touts smoother out-of-focus area presentation than previous versions.
Designed for use with either FX or DX format Nikon DSLRs, the 50mm f/1.4G should be available through dealers in December. Projected street price is around $440.
