DSLR DEALS

We found two great prices from the big box stores on entry-level DSLRs this week. Check out your local branch of the following retailers for more info on these hot in-store deals.

Canon Rebel XSi

Canon Rebel XSi

Office Depot has the Canon Rebel XSi body with an 18-55mm image stabilized lens and a 75-300mm telephoto zoom lens for $824.98.

Just need the one lens? Office Depot has the Canon XSi body with the 18-55mm lens for $724.99.

OUR TAKE: "...the XSi will unquestionably win converts to Canon with its (still) excellent AF system, super-smooth CMOS sensor with very impressive high ISO performance, and (for some users, at least) reasonably functional live view system." (DCR Review, 5/1/08)

Sony Alpha DSLR-A200

Sony Alpha DSLR-A200

Circuit City has the Sony A200 body with Sony’s DT55-200mm telephoto zoom lens, extra battery and carrying case for $649.97.

Don’t want the extras? Get just the A200K and the lens for $499.99.

OUR TAKE: "There are some nice features present for an entry-level camera - notably dust reduction, in-camera stabilization, and the ability to use Sony and Minolta lenses." (DCR Review, 6/13/08)

POINT-AND-SHOOT DEALS

It's a mix of old and new in our point-and-shoot deals this week, with a couple of the latest releases joining some long-running favorites in yesterday's circular sales.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H10

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H10

Office Depot has the Sony Cyber-shot H10 for $249.99 after a $50 instant savings. This was the cheapest price I found among all retailers, online or otherwise. Features include: 8.1 megapixels, 10x optical zoom, 3" LCD, advance sports mode and Memory Stick PRO DUO compatible.

OUR TAKE: "The images produced by the Sony Cyber-shot H10 can be stunning. This is largely a testament to the fine lens used." (DCR Review, 7/6/08)

YOUR TAKE: "Extremely easy to use, even for a first timer... Real value for money, for the kind of features provided at the price." (submitted by Phoenix)

Canon PowerShot G9

Canon PowerShot G9

Circuit City has the Canon PowerShot G9 for $439.99 after $60 instant savings. Also, get a free Epson R280 photo printer with purchase. Features include: 12.1 megapixels, 6x optical zoom, 3.0" LCD, optical image stabilization and a 32MB MMC memory card.

OUR TAKE: "...RAW is back, the G9 is more powerful, it has more features, and it's cheaper (MSRP) than its predecessor." (DCR Review, 9/26/07)

YOUR TAKE: "This is a typical Canon camera, fast, easy to use (compared to DSLR) and very good picture quality. The screen is good - could be better - and the controls are well placed." (submitted by Bob Millar)

Casio Exilim EX-Z80

Casio Exilim EX-Z80

Best Buy has the Casio Exilim Z80 for $159.99 after a $20 price drop. Features include: 8 megapixels, 3x optical zoom, 2.6" LCD, and iTunes compatibility.

OUR TAKE: "Slotted into the middle of the Exilim "zoom" line of cameras, at least price-wise, the EX-Z80 appears competitive in image quality with other brands in this class." (DCR Review, 6/2/08)

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S780

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S780

Office Max has the Sony Cyber-shot S780 for $149.99. This was the lowest price I found even among online retailers. Features include: 7.2 megapixels, 3x optical zoom and a 2.4" LCD.

Kodak EasyShare Z1285

Kodak EasyShare Z1285

Office Depot has the Kodak EasyShare Z1285 for $159.99, again beating all its competition for the lowest price around. Features include: 12.1 megapixels, 5x optical zoom, 2.5" LCD, HDTV-quality video and SD memory card compatible.

YOUR TAKE: "Good Pics... Value for money." (submitted by surajs)
