We reported in March that Apple was opening up its plug-in architecture in the latest version of its popular image workflow tool, Aperture 2.1. Per a report on DPReview today, PictureCode's Noise Ninja noise reduction system is now available for download.

Available for some time as both a Photoshop plug-in and a stand-alone software package, Noise Ninja provides advanced noise reduction controls for cleaning up high-ISO shots.
Apple has added a batch of new third-party apps for Aperture of late, but the PictureCode addition is almost certainly the most exciting plug-in yet for Apple's Lightroom alternative.
