Kodak EasyShare Z1015 IS, M1093 flagship models launched

With the typical lack of fanfare that has become their signature, Kodak quietly added two new flagship cameras to their website this week.

Building on the popular Z812 IS and Z1012 IS, Kodak's latest EasyShare ultrazoom, the Z1015 IS, sports the Z1012's 10 megapixel sensor coupled with a 15x Schnieder-Kreuznach Variogon lens.

Slightly revising the Z1012's look, the new Z1015 covers a focal length out to a wide 28mm. The camera's maximum aperture appears to be a point of some debate: quoting the U.K. press release, some British sites have listed it at f/2.8, but specs on the U.S. Kodak website claim it's f/3.5.

Though detailed specs have not yet been released, other features of the Z1015 including ISO 6400 shooting, P/A/S/M modes, HD video capabilities, and Kodak's Smart Capture technology appear to be derived directly from the Z1012.

Kodak also released a new flagship model in its basic "M" series, the EasyShare M1093 IS.

A 10 megapixel sensor joins a 3x Retinar lens covering the common 35-105mm range.

Image stabilization, Smart Capture, and HD video shooting are all available on the pocket-size M1093 as well.

Both cameras are slated to come available in September. Suggested retail price for the Z1015 IS is around $350; no pricing details have been provided for the M1093 IS.
