As promised last week, Adobe has released a codec that allows its Digital Negative (DNG) RAW format files to be viewed directly in Windows Vista.

PhotographyBlog reported this week that the promised codec has now been posted for download on the Adobe Labs website.
Adobe's publicly available DNG format was proposed as a solution to the ever-expanding catalog of proprietary RAW formats that software developers are currently tasked with keeping up with. In conjunction with the release of the Vista codec, Adobe also announced its intent to seek recognition for the DNG format (which is currently used on only a handful of cameras) from standards control body the ISO.
More information about the DNG format is available from Adobe's website.
