Most Popular Digital Cameras of May 2008

There's a new sheriff in town: the Nikon Coolpix P80 deposed the current version of Panasonic's perpetually popular TZ camera for the top spot during the month of May, continuing a trend of strong interest in ultrazooms that we've commented on in recent months. In spite of losing the top spot, Panasonic held on to the second and third places on the list with its newest flagship compact models.

The biggest surprise was unquestionably from Nikon: not always a consistently strong player in the compact camera segment, the high-profile maker nonetheless wrapped up two other spots (in addition to the P80's top-place finish) with its latest Wi-Fi enabled compact and the ultra-slim, ultra-stylish, ultra-affordable S210 – one of our favorite compacts so far this year. Canon's two showings this month were both older models, with its nice but somewhat pricey new SD890 slipping back out of the top ten after an initial surge.

This list of cameras shows you what visitors to DigitalCameraReview.com viewed most often over the past month. The rankings are determined by the number of times a particular product page is viewed by our users. The rankings below are for the entire month of May 2008.
