Fujifilm introduces FinePix Z200fd

Fujifilm's U.K. arm put a press release on the wire this morning outlining a new Fuji Z model, the Fujifilm FinePix Z200fd.

Building on the platform of the successful Z100fd, the new model features a 10 megapixel sensor, the Z100fd's familiar 5x zoom, Dual Image Stabilization, and several new soft features. Familiar options for web shooting, including blog and auction modes, will return to the next Z, as will Fuji's oddball IrSimple wireless transfer protocol and its effective Intelligent Flash technology.

All of this comes wrapped in a package that, from what we can tell in the few press shots that accompanied the release, looks nearly identical to the Z100fd. As before, the body is brushed metal and appears to feature the Z100fd's signature diagonally sliding lens cover and illuminated "Z" logo. A 2.7-inch LCD dominates the Z200fd's back panel.

An August retail launch date has been floated in the U.K. press release, but no word yet on when (or if, though presumably it will) the new higher-res Z might make its way to the U.S.

Pricing info has been promised "nearer to the date of the launch."
