Most Popular Digital Cameras of February 2008

The Sony T200 returns for its fifth month atop our most popular cameras list, but with Panasonic's new TZ5 generating a lot of buzz after its release at PMA in early February, it looks like the T200's days as king of the hill are numbered. A replacement model, the Sony Cyber-shot T300, may also be responsible for waning interest in the perpetually popular T200. For the first time since October, Canon failed to hold at least half of the spots on the list, garnering only four rankings this month. With several new PowerShot models and a new Rebel DSLR steadily climbing the ranks – the recently released PowerShot A590 IS is already into the top twenty – it seems likely that Canon won't lose much more ground, though. A few budget models also moved up into the list this month, presumably on the strength of price cuts for these slightly older cameras in anticipation of newer tech hitting the market in March.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 (first time on the list) - The 9 megapixel TZ5 - the latest addition to Panasonic's line of "travel zoom" cameras - features the TZ3's familiar 10x Leica wide-angle zoom, with an equivalent range of 28-280mm, in a compact body. 	3. Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 (previously #2) - This 7 megapixel successor to the TZ1 sports a 10x optical zoom with image stabilization in a relatively compact form factor. Panasonic has added new features, like Intelligent ISO control and a new imaging processor for better performance. It also sports a 3 inch screen and has quick operation. 	5. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T70 (previously #4) - The T70 was announced at the same time as the popular T200 and it's no surprise that it has crept onto the list as a cheaper alternative to the T200. Canon PowerShot S5 IS (previously #5) - The Powershot S5 IS has bounced around at various spots on the list since its release, featuring a stabilized 12x optical zoom, 8 megapixel resolution, a 2.5 inch Vari-Angle LCD, and the DIGIC III processor.
