As we reported briefly on Sunday, Samsung announced the addition of several new and updated cameras to its New Vision (NV) lineup. Four new models include the NV24HD, NV30, NV40, and NV4.

NV24HD brings high-definition shooting, OLED screen

With the NV24HD, Samsung adds high-def technology to the NV series. In addition to sharp still images, the 10 megapixel camera boasts HD video recording, capturing clips at up to 720 pixels wide at 30fps. A 2.5-inch OLED screen provides faster response times and significantly wider viewing angles than traditional LCDs. HDMI capability allows the NV24HD to interface with high-definition LCD or plasma televisions.

On the photo side, the NV24HD adds dual (optical as well as high-ISO) image stabilization to the NV series and advanced noise reduction supporting sensitivity up to ISO 3200. The NV24HD's 3.6x optical zoom sports 24mm of wide-angle reach at the short end of the range. The ultra-compact model provides several unique scene and auto preset modes as well. The NV24HD uses Samsung's Smart Touch interface as well.

The NV24HD should be out in March, with a suggested retail price of $350.

NV30 and NV40 offer updated tech in the NV line

Two continuation models, the 8.1-megapixel NV30 and 10-megapixel NV40, added more advanced features and new technology to the series. The addition of Samsung's DRIM Engine processing and sensor technology promises drastically improved shutter lag times and better image quality. Both cameras offer the familiar 3x zoom seen on previous NV models.

As with the NV24HD, the NV30 and NV40 add dual image stabilization. The 2.5-inch LCD with Smart Touch interface carries over from previous NV cams. A new Photo Style Selector dial allows users to select from seven color profiles, including Soft, Vivid, Retro, Cool, Calm, and Classic.

The N30 will be available next month, priced at $279. The $329 NV40 should show up in March.

PMP concept continued in NV4

Finally, the Samsung NV4 brings the flexibility of a combined camera and personal media player to the New Vision line, updating the popular NV3. In addition to shooting photos and video, the 8-megapixel, 3x-zoom NV4 can store and play externally sourced movies, images, and MP3s on the device's 2.5-inch LCD and external speaker with SRS 3D acoustic technology.

Multi-Slide Show image playback mode allows users can playback their images using five different slide transitions and can also have their images set to scroll to the camera's preloaded music or their own favorite MP3 files.

Digital image stabilization with sensitivity to ISO 1600, face detection technology, and PSS are also included on the NV4.

MSRP for the NV4 is $279. No word on a release date per the press release.
