Canon EOS-1D Mark III Apparently Being Pulled From Shelves in UK
According to a letter obtained by Rob Galbraith, Canon UK is asking that dealers return any unsold EOS-1D Mark III cameras. Quality issues with the AF Sub mirror have caused problems in a "minority" of units on the market.
Canon will repair any units already sold and will let the dealers know soon when they'll start shipping again.
Gizmodo did a little more digging with Canon USA, who stated that the US camera units have already been fixed and that no recall is planned.
Eye-Fi Wireless Enabled SD Card Now Shipping
The Eye-Fi SD card has a built in WiFi radio to make it easy to transfer images to your computer or online photo sharing sites without a cable. The product has been in development for a while (they announced a beta program last October), but is now available in stores for $100 for a 2GB capacity card.
Using the bundled card reader, you use your computer to set up the card for the first time. During set up, you can configure the card to upload to one of: "17 popular online photo sharing, printing, social networking or blogging sites to share their photographs, and select where on their PC or Mac they want to archive their images."
Eye-Fi's upload service allows transfer of an unlimited number of images. It will allow transfer of full-resolution JPEG images or will automatically resize the images, depending on the requirements of the destination.
The card is now available from Amazon.com, Buy.com, Walmart.com; and the online stores of J&R, B&H Photo Video, dotPhoto and Photojojo.
