Samsung i85 Digital Camera Announced

In addition to the three new NV cameras announced today, the Samsung i85 digital camera is also being announced. It's the latest model in a generation of very slim cameras capable of doubling as a personal media player (PMP). The Samsung i85 features 8 megapixel resolution, 5x optical zoom, 3 inch LCD, and measures 3.74" x 2.42" x 0.8".

In addition to the "usual" PMP features - the ability to play music, movies, etc - the Samsung i85 also includes Samsung's World Tour Guide that provides travel information on 4,500 regions in 30 countries. The bundled Digimax Converter software can convert MPEG, AVI, MOV, WMV and ASF files into a format that is viewable in the i85's 3 inch screen. A headphone jack and stereo speakers make sure that you can hear the audio easily.

The i85's movie mode can capture movies at resolutions up to 800x592 pixels and the optical zoom is available during movie capture. The camera also includes Samsung's Advanced Shake Reduction system and can shoot at sensitivities up to ISO 1600. A facial detection system can be used to properly focus and expose faces in the frame correctly. Fourteen pre-programmed scene modes give plenty of options for the best camera settings for your shot.

The camera has 256MB of internal memory, but can also accept SD and SDHC memory cards. Look for the Samsung i85 sometine in Fall 2007 for $350.
