Canon Powershot SD750 and Powershot SD1000 Digital Cameras Announced

The two new additions to Canon's compact and stylish SD line are the Powershot SD750 and Powershot SD1000. They're both 7.1 megapixel cameras with 3x optical zooms and they also have the new DIGIC III processor. The SD750 has a 3 inch screen and the SD1000 gets an optical viewfinder and 2.5 inch LCD.

Both cameras come in two color styles: original silver or the two-tone matte black and silver. The SD1000 features minimalistic styling and squared of edges while the SD750 looks more like previous SD cameras.

Both cameras will be available in late March 2007. The Powershot SD750 will retail for $349 and the Powershot SD1000 will retail for $299.

The DIGIC III processor allows faster start-up times, faster autofocus and less shutter lag, as well as better battery performance. The extra processing power also allows for Canon's face detection technology, which can detect and track multiple faces in an image to get the right focus and exposure on your subjects. The DIGIC III also provides better noise reduction, allow the SD750 and SD1000 to shoot up to ISO 1600.
The 2.5 inch screen on the SD1000 and 3 inch screen on the SD750 both have 230K pixels of resolution and Canon's new Pure Color LCD. This coating helps prevent scratches, smudges, and fingerprints.
