New Nikon "Life" Digital Cameras: Coolpix L10, Coolpix L11, Coolpix L12

In preparation for PMA, Nikon is updating it's "Life" or L-line of digital cameras with three new models. The Coolpix L10, Coolpix L11, and Coolpix L12 all feature 3x optical zoom Nikkor lenses and the same compact body styling as the previous generations of L cameras. The three cameras vary in sensor resolution and LCD size in order to blanket the possible price range (from $119 - $199).

The Coolpix L10 features a 2 inch screen and 5 megapixel resolution. The Coolpix L11 features a 2.4 inch screen and 6 megapixel resolution. Finally, the Coolpix L12 features 7.1 megapixel resolution, a 2.5 inch LCD, and optical image stabilization.

The Coolpix L10 and L11 will now be able to shoot at sensitivities up to ISO 800. The Coolpix L12 bumps this up a bit to ISO 1600. A new Anti-Shake button on the L12 can be pressed to simultaneously activate VR, High ISO, and Best Shot Selector modes to ensure that you get blur-free shots.

All three cameras continue to feature Nikon's "In-Camera Innovations". These features include a red-eye correction function to remove red-eye while the image is still on the camera; Face Priority AF, which detects and focuses on your subjects face automatically; and D-Lighting which allows you to correct lighting in images take in challenging lighting conditions to provide a more pleasing picture.

As always, there are also plenty of scene modes and TV quality movie recording available.

All three cameras are powered by a set of 2 AA batteries and accept SD media (including SDHC media). The L10 and L11 will have 7MB of onboard memory while the L12 will have 21MB of internal memory.

All three cameras will be available in March 2007. The Coolpix L10 will retail for $119.95, the Coolpix L11 for $149.95, and the Coolpix L12 for $199.95.
