BoxWave Introduces Screen Protectors for Sony Alpha A100

Today, BoxWave Corporation has announced a new screen protector, available in clear or anti-glare for the Sony Alpha DSLR-A100 digital SLR. The ClearTouch Crystal screen protector allows 99% of the LCD light to pass through, providing protection from scratches, but still allowing you to see the details and colors that you need. The Anti-Glare protector has a textured finish to reduce glare while maintaining optical clarity.

Both screen protectors can be easily cleaned and BoxWave includes a cleaning cloth. Also, they ship an applicator to provide a bubble-free application of the screen protector. Since these products are meant specifically for the Sony A100, they are already cut to fit the LCD on the camera.

Bluetooth Enabled Devices Reach the One Billion Mark

According to shipment data from ABI Research, the number of Bluetooth-enabled devices in consumer's hands hit the one billion mark in early November. Not only have they reached a pretty significant milestone, but the number is increasing by 12 million devices each week.

For some perspective, there are fewer than one billion PC users in the world and there have been around one billion mobile phones shipped this year. Obviously, the biggest contributor to this count is mobile phones and audio headsets. Other categories that are significant contributors are stereo headsets, vehicles, media players, notebooks, mice and keyboards. Areas that are expected to grow in volume are medical devices, gaming devices, camcorders, projectors and digital cameras. The main reason that these areas are seen as growth areas is the new high speed specification due out in 2007.

Right now, the only Bluetooth-enabled camera that I know of is the Kodak Easyshare V610. It is capable of using Hi-speed Bluetooth to transfer pictures to your computer or other devices.

ATP SD Trio Professional Plus Wins Innovation Award

ATP, a manufacturer of flash storage products has won an Innovations 2007 Designs and Engineering Award for their SD Trio Professional Plus product. This product essentially gives you three products in one. All of the storage for this product is on a microSD card and ATP ships a miniSD adapter and a standard sized SD adapter so you can use the same memory media in devices that use the three different form factors. Also in the package, they ship USB reader for the media.
