Welcome to another installment of "Users speak out..." This time, we're going to take a look at the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T30. The opinions are chosen based on the value of the information (in our opinion) to our readers. We won't necessarily pick only the "positive" opinions or only the "negative" opinions. We'll pick the opinions that we think will be most helpful to you as you shop for and compare cameras. To see all opinions, click through to the product detail, and click the "View Opinions" link.

The Sony T30 is one of the latest models in Sony's ultra-compact, very stylish T-line of digital cameras.  The T30 features a very large 3 inch LCD and 7.2 megapixels of sensor resolution.  The 3x optical zoom is enhanced with Sony's Super SteadyShot image stabilization technology.  Battery life is an estimated at 420 shots per charge.  The camera accepts Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick Pro Duo media.

Thumbs Down Good camera for night shots, absolutely horrible for indoor

Pros: 3" LCD, hardly any shutter lag, great color, great for outdoor shots, steadyshot, good camera modes.

Cons: VERY inconsistent indoor shots and under unusual lighting , poor red eye, flash range is poor, very noisy after ISO 400 without flash, oversaturation of red tone in photos (esp. portrait shots).

Thumbs Up Sony T30- Functional AND Fashionable

Pros: Very good image quality, ultra compact, sexy glossy black finish, focuses very quickly, fantastic battery life, huge bright 3" LCD, convenient slide down lens cover

Cons: Scratches very easily, LCD and front get smudged quickly, outdoor photos a bit cool

Thumbs Down poor low light performance, poor customer support.. never expected from Sony

Pros: good photos if you have full control on ambient only, lot of light not a Point and Shoot camera for all occation

Cons: Severe Red eye almost in all photos taken in evening, or room light, rubbish justification provided by Sony support,

Thumbs Up Good camera for beginners, great for outdoor and night photography, video

Pros: Great size, weight, large 3" LCD, long battery life, great options for videos including optimal zoom

Cons: no custom white balance, no manual options, pictures come out too warm, poor red-eye reduction, inconsistency with indoor shots, noise in pictures after ISO 400

Thumbs Up Great little Camera

Pros: Very Easy to use, great pictures, high ISO option, download songs for slideshow, nice little video recordings with audio!

Cons: Not many things you can change on it, as in settings. Pretty much a Point and Shoot camera.

Thumbs Up Powerful ultra-compact camera

Pros: Small size, 3" LCD display, awesome slide show functions, 7 megapixels, different color modes, great video quality, internal memory, easy to use battery charger, good battery life

Cons: Expensive, zoom speed could be faster, not as thin as T9

Thumbs Up Big things come in small packages

Pros: Small and light, fits in shirt pocket perfectly. 3 inch LCD screen is a plus, camcorder quality video, Can store over 500 pictures at 7 mega pixel with 2G memory card, can download mp3 for slide show

Cons: Leather cover (not included) could be better. Won't let you review the pictures with cover on.

Thumbs Up A great camera that is very small and easy to carry everywhere

Pros: Small, no protrusions (like lens), long battery life, battery remaining indicator, stylish, black. anti shake

Cons: Mostly plastic, cant charge without removing battery or buying an adapter

Thumbs Up Sony does it again

Pros: New twice as long battery life, amazing low-light pictures, bigger LCD display (plus is it one of those new reflective LCD screens similar to new generation laptop screens), new glossy case finish

Cons: a bit bigger size than T9, glass finish on the back results in fingerprints when you touch the T/W and menu buttons

Thumbs Up Must Believe...One of the Best Compact

Pros: This camera is packed with features such as Double Anti Blue (Works Flawlessly), Great Crisp Pictures, 3 Inch LCD and much more.

Cons: Need LCD Screen Protector

Thumbs Up Tested Demo - Overall 9/10

Rating: 8/10

Pros: 1) The Design is great in-hand, and is another great aesthetic achievement by the Sony team (the Black version is very slick indeed). 2) It's a welcome upgrade from the T9 overall and the image quality and red-eye issues of previous T-series cams seem to have been solved (the 3-inch LCD output is great too). 3) Sony has implimented a great user-friendly interface and is very successful for taking quicks hi-quality snaps on the go (the ISO 800 and 1000 help alot). 4) Great battery life, charge durations are similar to the T9 but last almost twice as long (efficient design of battery, buttons and MS placement etc).

Cons: 1) Not really anything to critique here, but unless you have an issue with the price (which I think is very reasonable) I think there isn't much else.
