Samsung's new Digimax U-CA 5 is a reasonably priced, compact, and lightweight five-megapixel digital camera. It's a stylish silver digicam with gray, red, or blue trim. The U-CA 5 features a 3x optical zoom, a 1.8 inch LCD screen (but no optical viewfinder), a super Macro Mode (minimum focusing distance is 2 inches), a focus aid beam for low light shooting, and a 640x480 @ 30fps movie mode.

Samsung markets the U-CA 5 as an ideal first digital camera, so the Auto (Point & Shoot) mode is especially suited to beginners. More advanced shooters (and beginners -- as their photographic skills develop) can switch to the U-CA5's Manual (Program) mode and adjust ISO, white balance, image sharpness, and exposure compensation to fine-tune their exposures.
