Entry-level camcorders cost anywhere from $400 to $600 and typically shoot 1080/60i full HD footage. In general, they have a CMOS sensor and can take 4 to 5 megapixel stills. Picture controls vary, but an entry-level HD camcorder should at least offer an auto white balance along with scene modes and manual focus and exposure controls. Entry-level camcorders are smaller than mid-range or prosumer models and regularly have a 2.7 to 3 inch LCD touchscreen. Current models include the Canon VIXIA HF R100, Sony Handycam CX110, Panasonic HDC-SD60 and Samsung HMX-H204Sony announced its new lineup of Handycam camcorders at CES today, including 11 new models with features like projector inputs and improved sound systems.
