Canon announces today the arrival of a new digital Rebel - the Canon EOS Rebel T2i. The Rebel XSi drops out of their entry-level line to make way for the new flagship T2i. It boosts the feature set of the T1i with a sensor nearly identical to the almost-pro Canon EOS 7D. They introduce the T2i with a price starting under $1000.
Canon adds a new compact, high-zoom camera to its PowerShot lineup today with the Canon PowerShot SX210 IS. Canon adds the PowerShot SD1400 IS, PowerShot SD1300 IS, and PowerShot SD3500 IS to their Digital ELPH line. They offer features such as wide angle lenses and touch screen functionality in a slim, compact camera bodies. The new PowerShots will be available in a variety of splashy colors.

Promotional materials on Olympus's site last week featured the image of a mystery PEN camera obscured by a hand. Today, they move that hand away and reveal the third Micro Four Thirds system in their digital PEN series, the E-PL1. They've offered DCR a first-look, pre-production unit and we've had our hands all over it ever since it arrived.
After teasing the release of a new digital PEN camera last week, Olympus has officially taken the wraps off the E-PL1. It's their third Micro Four Thirds model, a step-down alternative to the E-P1 and E-P2. It compromises some of the features and build quality of the previous models to bring the price down, and it adds a built-in flash to the lineup for the first time.
Nikon adds a new member to the Coolpix "P for Performance" series today - the Nikon Coolpix P100. It's the first Coolpix to feature a back-illuminated CMOS sensor, allowing it to shoot up to 10 fps at full resolution. A 26x optical zoom lens puts it just ahead of its 24x predecessor, the Coolpix P90. Full 1080p HD video recording sweetens the deal.
Nikon today announced four new S-series Coolpix cameras. Their "S" stands for "style" and represents a host of features, including long zooms, touch screens, HD video recording capabilities, and sleek new bodies. The SP series of ultrazooms from Olympus gets two new additions today - the SP-800UZ and SP-600UZ. The SP-800UZ will feature a whopping 30x optical zoom lens, and the SP-600UZ will offer "merely" a 15x optical zoom lens. Both feature a DSLR-grade TruePic III image processor and a full slate of beginner-friendly features.
Olympus adds two more rugged cameras today to their Tough series. The Stylus Tough-8010 and Stylus Tough-6020 are shockproof, waterproof, crushproof, and freezeproof, making them ready for waves and ski slopes alike. They have a softer side, too. Fujifilm announces the FinePix HS10 today with a 30x optical zoom range. It features a back-illuminated CMOS sensor capable of 10 fps burst shooting. In addition to that monster zoom range, the HS10 will offer full 1080p HD video recording and a full set of manual exposure modes.
Fujifilm's Z series gets a tech-overhaul with the introduction of the FinePix Z700EXR. It brings the Super CCD EXR sensor to a touch-screen camera for the first time. Also introduced today is the FinePix Z70. The 12 megapixel point and shoot doesn't have a touch LCD, but it gives the trendy Z series a fresh face.
Fujifilm announces the FinePix F80EXR today, updating their F70EXR with 720p HD video capture. Like the F70EXR, it combines a 10x optical zoom range with their Super CCD EXR sensor in a 22.9mm-slim camera body.
